Sales Management. Whoa!

Here I was sitting in my yet another first class for the course of sales management. I was particularly excited because so far this was the first Marketing elective course that I had taken and had decided to take it to prove my versatility and mettle out there in the marketing domain.

The class went awesome! The instructor turned out to be a veteran-sales person with a 31 year career with Coca Cola serving across five countries having ended his last assignment as the CEO Coca Cola Bangladesh. He presented the story of coke with so much vigor that anyone was bound to fall in love with Sales & so was my case :)

I realized the hard work needed to be put into it all as soon as we finished the class to collect a stack of reading material for the next session. God! Business school wasn't supposed to be easy, especially the evening one, but I hope it's exciting enough to keep me going and get to the finish line in due course.

Summer School starts today!

Today is the first day of summer semester at the business school I am attending, so what this means is that I am going to take classes after about 2 months now. I am excited, yes! and quite anxious also.

Let's see how it all unfolds this evening, but frankly I haven't heard fantastic things about the teachers so far. In any case, both the courses interest me a lot, and I would love to learn something meaningful after all. They're raising the tuition fee like anything, so it better not be a waste of money!

Someone's Everybody!

In your pursuits in life, you may become Everyone's somebody, but can never become Everyone's everybody. Why not, then, go for becoming Someone's Everybody.

This works in career, academics, relationships and life in general. One doesn't need to be an expert on everything, but certainly the best in some niche in life! This will give you more respect in the long run and happiness & satisfaction all along the way.

Tolerance

Sitting in a class at one of the premier business schools of the country, right in the middle of a discussion on a controversial topic, religion, I found how chaotic our minds could be and how very small differences of opinion could bring up a burst of emotions that are most often not well-expressed. Although our constitution gives every citizen the right to speak one’s mind and practice his/her religion under Articles 19 and 20 of the Constitution of Islamic Republic of Pakistan, what we need to understand is that we need to be tolerant of each others’ views to practically implement those rights. Tolerance does not mean accepting whatever others tell you to; but it certainly means letting others at least speak their minds while you listen to what others want to say. It is important for us all to realize that diversity is strength and in order to capitalize on that strength, we need to have the flexibility to listen to others’ opinions and at the same time remain firm on our viewpoints. Only this will lead us all to conclude an all-inclusive discussion that would have fruitful results.

What our society needs is constructive criticism and earnest implementation on a mutual decision. Until we all listen to each other, we would not be able to curb the feeling of alienation within certain sections of the society and would never be able to come up with a mutual decision. It is time we start behaving as a civilized nation in terms of our conduct, approach and attitude. In fact, this has become overdue and to fix things up, we need to take mature action-led tolerant behavior at levels within the society. Once everyone, or at least, most people start to make this attitude a part of their personality, we would be able to outgrow our petty differences and will be ready for serious development.

To do or not to do

Sometimes in life we come across situations where we have to make a decision to do something or not do it. What should the decision be based on. Amongst the financial, economic and cost-benefit analysis of those kind of decisions, one should keep account of the moral implications of any such decision as well.

Ethical decision making lets you avoid regrets & make you happy in the long run!
